A father's rights group has defended a Family Court's order that two young girls stay with their father, a registered sex offender.

When Karen Doll-Murphy learned that convicted sex offender John Albert Gardner III was linked by police to the disappearance of Chelsea King, she got angry. Then she got busy. The Catholic church's most senior cleric in Ireland has rejected calls to resign over claims he helped cover up sex abuse investigations in the 1970s. Cardinal Sean Brady, primate of all-Ireland, admitted he was present at meetings where two abused teenagers were made to sign vows of silence. The meetings followed complaints of abuse against Fr Brendan Smyth, jailed in the 1990s for serial child abuse.

A Homer man has been ordered to stand trial on allegations he sexually abused a 4-year-old and attempted to assault an older girl. Jose Ovence Salinas has pleaded not guilty to felony charges of first-degree sexual assault of a child, child abuse and first-degree false imprisonment. He's set to stand trial April 22 in Dakota County District Court.
